Service Career

  • Began as Lecturer in Economics (WBES) at Lady Brabourne College
  • Served Presidency College, Kolkata as Professor & later as Head of the Dept. of Economics during 1994-2004 (WBSES). During Headship a PG degree course in Applied Economics directly under the Calcutta University but not taught in the Dept of Economics, Calcutta University, was introduced in 2002 in the Economics Dept of Presidency College and the Dept. was the first in India from the category of Social Sciences to be awarded the DST FIST grant in 2003-04.

  • Served Presidency College, Kolkata, as the first lady Principal during 2005 - 2008
