Campus Recruitment Drive by COGNIZANT for the Third Year and PG II students of Arts and Social Science Departments

The Career Counselling Cell is going to organise a Campus Recruitment Drive by COGNIZANT for the posts of Instructional Designers & Technical Writers. The Third Year and PG II students of Arts and Social Science Departments are eligible for the same. Photocopy of the original proposal is attached herewith. The same is also sent to the individual students through e-mail. Students are requested to read them carefully and bring all the documents required along with them on the date of campus selection. Students who are willing to appear are requested to inform their respective departments by 22.02.2017.

The Departmental Heads are requested to send the names of the interested students to the undersigned within 22.02.2017.

An exhibition on Sister Nivedita

An exhibition on Sister Nivedita, Her Life and Her Times has been organised by Bethune College. It will be inaugurated on December 15, 2016 at 10.30 a.m. by Swami Purnatmanandaji Maharaj. The exhibition will be open for viewing between 16.12.16 to 21.12.2016 from 11a.m.- 4 p.m.

Students' who have registered for the following events will have their Preliminary Round on Friday, 16th of December. The events are :
  1. Non Fire Cooking - Union Room, 11:45 am to 12:15 pm. Only one dish is to be prepared.
  2. Antakshari - On Stage, 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. (4 teams will qualify)
  3. Eastern Vocals - Union Room, 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Only 5 participants will qualify.
  4. Western Vocals - Union Room, 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Only 5 participants will qualify.
  5. Eastern Dance - On stage, 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Only 5 participants will qualify. Costumes are not mandatory.
  6. Western Dance - On stage, 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Only 5 participants will qualify. Costumes are not mandatory.

Sesquicentennial Birth Anniversary celebrations and Inter-college Competition

The inauguration of the year long Sesquicentennial Birth Anniversary celebrations of Sister Nivedita will be held on December 15, 2016. The inaugural address will be delivered by Swami Purnatmanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Swami Vivekananda's Ancestral House and Cultural Centre. Professor Basab Chaudhuri, Vice Chancellor, West Bengal State University will grace the occasion as Chief Guest.The key note address will be delivered by Professor Somnath Bhattacharya, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jadavpur University. All are requested to attend.

All undergraduate students are invited to participate in the Inter-college Debate, Essay and Poster Competition commemorating the Sesquicentennial Birth Anniversary of Sister Nivedita. The proforma for participation and rules for each competition may be seen here.

Members of the Alumni Association of Bethune College, Sammilani, met the First Year students of the college on September 15, 2016. The current students were enriched by this happy interaction of the past with the present.

Intra College competitions

The Intra College Competitions were held on September 10, 2016. A great number of our students participated in the events.
Some other events like Treasure Hunt, Science Model Exhibition and Quiz will be held on 29th September.
Results of all the events will be announced formally on September 29, 2016.
The Prize Distribution for Intra College Competitions will be held on the same day.

Classes for 3rd Year B.A./B.Sc for the Session 2016-17 of Humanities/Non Lab based subjects and those Lab based Science subjects of which B.A/B.Sc Part II Examination (including Theory and Practical) has ended, will commence on and from July 12, 2016 at 10.30 a.m.
For the remaining Lab based subjects, classes will start immediately the day after the completion of B.A./B.Sc Part II (Theory and Practical) Examination.

Orientation Programme for First Year Students

The students who have been admitted to the First Year B.A./ B.Sc Course for the Session 2016-17 are asked to report to their respective departments on 11th July, 2016 at 11 a.m. .
After a brief introduction to the department, they will assemble in the Centenary Hall (Kadambini Bhawan, First Floor) for the Orientation Programme at 11.45 a.m.

B.A./ B.Sc First Year classes will commence on and from July 12, 2016 at 10.30 a.m.
