Top most Hindi Literary Award Won by Subhaswapna Mukhopadhaya (Dept. of Hindi)
Subhaswapna Mukhopadhaya, one of the most bright and diligent students of our college, studying IInd Year Hindi Honours won the highest award ('Shikhar Samman') in the Annual Hindi Literary Fest (Hindi Mela), 2018 in the field of Poem Recitation. The award was received by her from the hands of Dr. Shambhunath, Director, Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad in the valedictory session of the weeklong state level contest held at Fedaration Hall Society, Rajabazar, Kolkata.
A student of UG III, English, Sayantani is a photographer and her start-up Photo-Scene-Thesis dealing with photography, content creation, event management, corporate branding and advertisement was also featured by the New Indian Express. At such a young age, she is not only a successful entrepreneur but she has also worked as an editor at Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utshob, 2017 and Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival, 2018. She also worked with The Times of India as an on-round marketing partner of Phire Esho Kolkata campaign November 2018 - February 2019. She has worked as a photographer at Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival January 2018. Amongst other activities, she has worked at Presidency MUN as a member of IP - March 2018. She has won several awards at intra and inter college competitions for photography, debate and extempore. She has also worked as Media Head of Bethune College Students' Committee 2018.
A student of UG III, English, Ahendrila is known for her consistently good academic performance complemented by multifarious talents. She stood first in inter-college essay writing competition (English) called 'Agami Nirman' conducted by the Ramakrishna Mission in 2018. She has contributed as author and editor to the college publication Mahasweta Nivedita and college magazine Adiganta. She has completed her internship at Voices, The Statesman. She is a member of the editorial team of an online literary magazine, Elixir. She has worked as blogger at ARC Shot Entertainments. She has written and delivered the Students' representative speech on Bethune Day, 2018. Ahendrila is a trained singer and is an active participant in several inter and intra college events. She has also worked as Literary Head of Bethune College Students' Committee 2018.

A mathematical prodigy
Stood First class First in the Mathematics Honours examination of the Calcutta University in 2006 from Bethune College, Kolkata. She completed her Post Graduation in Mathematics from the Indian Statistical Institute of Kolkata in 2008 and obtained her Ph.D. degree from the same Institute in 2011 with Algebraic Geometry as her field of specialization. Table tennis Player
We are proud of Priyadarshini Das, an undergraduate student of Philosophy Honours, who has made a mark in the Sports arena at a very young age. Priyadarshini, aged 20, is a National level Table Tennis Player with World Ranking No. 331. As per Table Tennis Federation of India Rankings, Priyadarshini is placed 6th among Youth Women Table Tennis players in India.. Born on 27th November, 1997, in Howrah, West Bengal, Priyadarshini passed out from Bethune School before joining Bethune College. She plays in an attacking style with a shake-hand grip. Pursuing her passion zealously, Priyadarshini has been consistently winning Medals and Prizes in several District, Zonal and Inter-State Championships. Read more
A prodigious student
Subhaswapna is an undergraduate student in the Hindi department of the college. She was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy since birth with almost total immobility in both her legs. She can only write with her left hand with much effort. She has proved, time and again, that the despite winds blowing in another direction, courage and resilience can adjust the sails to reach their destination. We wish her all success in life. Read more
